ATMPs in Belgium: Challenges, Opportunities, and Concrete Initiatives

Short Description:
This workshop will begin with a presentation of the panorama of ATMPs in Belgium. Belgium has an impressive critical mass of companies, universities and hospitals with expertise in the field. We will look at the strengths and weaknesses of this ecosystem and discuss the opportunities available to manufacturers. We will then discuss with our speakers some of the major challenges facing this sector:
  1. how to optimise the industrial production of these products and make the cost of these medicines affordable for the greatest number?
  2. how to adapt the regulatory framework to facilitate access to these innovative therapies for patients?
  3. how to envisage reimbursement for these new and promising products?
The session will close with a presentation of ambitious research initiatives currently under development in Belgium.

The workshop will start with a panel discussion exploring the potential of secondary use of health data in healthcare innovation, digging into the key success factors and drivers for effective re-use at Belgian and EU levels and the lessons learned from ongoing initiatives.
